UNDERSTANDING THE BIOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF PANCHAKARMA THERAPY: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW

This paper was produced against the backdrop of growing public and medical concern over the indiscriminate use of panchakarma. The practice of Panchakarma therapy is so widespread that, in terms of the worldwide context, the term "Panchakarma" may possibly be more well-known than "Ayurveda." Thus, panchakarma becomes unique as a therapeutic technique with both curative and preventive aspects. However, the scientific underpinnings of Panchakarma treatment are rarely investigated. In order to standardize the practice of Panchakarma and gain acceptance from the scientific community, this article attempts to describe the mechanism of action of Panchakarma therapy based on certain physiological facts. An unbiased physiological overview of panchakarma therapy is presented in this article.
